Silane-functionalized graphene nanoplatelets for silicone rubber nanocomposites

Abstract Silane-functionalized graphene nanoplatelets (GNPs) were prepared using a newly developed approach based upon simple two-step strategy. The effect of their dispersion and interfacial bonding on the mechanical properties thermal conductivity reinforced silicone rubber (SR) was investigated. It found by Raman mapping that silane-functionalized GNPs could be dispersed uniformly into SR matrix, leading to an increase up 25% in Young’s modulus at only 2 parts per hundred (phr) loading considerable enhancement 150% 5-phr loading. Both experimental results agreement with values predicted theoretical models. Graphical abstract
